- Subject: [IUG] Branch Delivery Services
We're looking into expanding our campus delivery service for our
libraries at JMU. We're wondering how other college libraries who use
Millennium do it. Here are some of our questions:
Is the delivery service supported by Millennium, or is it home-grown?
We don't like the idea of items keeping an available status if they are
not in their home library and are not truly available. How do you
handle that? Is there a special status put on items while they are
being transfered from one branch to the next? Are the items checked out
to the requesting patron ahead of time?
Another issue we want to avoid is patrons requesting items to be
delivered from and to the owning library. We do not want to become a
pulling service for our patrons. Have you found a way to prevent
patrons from requesting available items from their home library?
I'd appreciate any feed back, tips or suggestions related to delivery
services.
