Apologies if this has been posted here before, but members of this
list might be interested in Next Generation Catalogs for Libraries,
aka NGC4Lib, a new email list discussing such things as the role of
the catalog in the contemporary library, what the catalog can/should
do, what we have to learn from Google/Amazon/etc.
If you were interested in Casey Bisson's talk at IUG on building a
"Web 2.0" OPAC or if you have been following the "OPACs suck" meme on
library blogs, you will likely find NGC4Lib interesting.
