RE: [IUG] 3M Self Check Issue
[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]
Tyra,
We are facing the same problem and more.
1- If you need more info about how Sip2 should work:
http://www.niso.org/committees/committee_at.html , but this PDF file
will tell you more about SIP2 messages:
http://www.aneg-dv.de/allegro/sip2/sip2_developers_guide.pdf
2- Our selfcheck stations do not show some of the Millennium Circulation
messages, mostly warning messages.
3- Also, when a user checks out an item on selfcheck station and for
some reason (say user forgot the item on a table, then other user took
it to check it out) another user checks it out at selfcheck station, the
interface simply check the item out again for the last user without any
warning message at all.
We think non-showing of message issue relates more on the software that
links between SIP2 and RFID server, in our case it is called
interrogator and our vendor (Checkpoint) help desk staff are looking
into it.

Subject: [IUG] 3M Self Check Issue
I received the following from our Cir. Mgr. I can't seem to find
information on CSDirect or the list archives to tell me what the SIP2
interface can & can't do. Does anyone know if it's possible to display
a message as described below?
"The newest problem that has arisen is the fact that if you have a card
expiring before the normal due date, the machine uses the expiration
date as the due date but there are no bells and whistles that tell you
this. So, for example, I used a library card that is expiring on
05/31/06. It checked my book out and it printed a receipt with a due
date of 05/31/06. If the customer had come to the desk, a message would
have come up saying "Using expiration date as due date." No message
comes up for the self serving customer."
Thank you,
Tyra
