RE: [IUG] Display of OPAC holds breaking

Hi Valentina,

To my knowledge the number of holds really has no bearing on the issue.
I've seen the problem crop up on a patron's record with as little as five
holds altogether. We thought at first it was only affecting patrons with a
long hold list--what we found out after a while is that although many of
these patrons did have a lot of holds, the display of holds only broke if
they had multiple items ready for pickup. The hold that broke the table was
always on the holdshelf.

Thanks for responding, Steve & Ann.
It doesn't sound very encouraging, though. I wonder if there's a way to
limit how many holds patrons can place, and if so, would that make a
difference...

Thanks again,
Valentina

Hi,

We are on Release 2006LE but are still having the problem - probably because
we don't have the beta-patch. But CSDirect indicates that the fix is in the
2006 Release.

We've noticed it happening when the person has a really long holds list
(between 30 to 50). I'll have to check the multiple holds on the pickup
shelf - that sounds like an interesting contributing factor.

Hi Valentina,

We have the fix as of 4/19 and it involved upgrading to 2006LE and applying
a beta-patch to boot. It's also supposed to be fixed in the 2006 regular
release.

We saw the problem occurring when patrons had multiple items ready for
pickup on the holdshelf. Those items would always break the table and not
display. Once the items were checked out and nothing was ready for pickup,
the problem would "temporarily" go away, which really ticked off patrons
(and me).

I can tell you right now we've had no problems since 4/19. Hope that helps.

Hi all,
We're about to upgrade from 2005LE to Rel. 2005, and in looking through the
archives for potential issues to be prepared for I found this one (see
below). I was wondering if Ann, Steve, or anyone else who's experienced this
issue as a result of upgrading to 2005 have figured out the solution to
this OPAC display problem.
Thanks in advance,

We have one customer who has reported this - however, he has quite a number
of holds - up to 50 at a time and often only 40 will show up. I've not been
able to replicate this either. We checked his record in our catalogue (in
the building) and all his holds appeared.

We've not opened a call as yet as I wanted to do some more investigating to
see if I can actually get a screen print or something concrete to pass
along.
I wonder how many others are experiencing this but are not bringing it to
our attention?

The customer mentioned too that he didn't have this problem until the last
software upgrade (which was to Release 2005).

Dear Listers,

I've got a baffling problem that seems completely random but is driving our
staff crazy (and myself by association).

It seems since around our upgrade to release 2005, some (not all) patrons
have been having problems seeing the complete list of their holds when
accessing their account in the web OPAC. I have seen the problem myself.
The table where the hold information should be populated is broken and where
12 holds should display, only 4 end up displaying. Their holds display in
Millennium and telnet is fine--so it's got to be a web coding/programming
issue. Correct?

I've looked at the items that break the table, the patron records, and we've
even rebooted the server. Nothing looks weird or out of the ordinary.

Innovative needs stable examples to examine, but as soon as I get an example
of course the patron has picked up their items or modified their hold list
and the problem seems to disappear. What's more maddening is I can't
reproduce the problem in a test patron record.

Have any of you seen or experienced this problem before? Thanks for any
help!
