EWU Libraries Announces Two Library Faculty Positions
LEARNING RESOURCES LIBRARIAN: New ten-month, tenure-track position with
opportunity to transform a traditional curriculum materials collection
into a K-20 teaching and learning resources center emphasizing effective
use of technology in teaching and learning. The center will support the
College of Education and Human Development's K-12 teacher preparation
program and the University's ongoing work on effective teaching and
learning. It will provide "collections," services to students and
faculty, and programs appropriate to identified goals. The Learning
Resources Librarian also participates in reference and instruction services.
Qualifications: Required: Masters or doctoral degree. Minimum 3
years' demonstrated successful experience in a college/university
setting (such as a library) supporting programs in K-12 teacher
preparation and higher education teaching excellence. Emphasis on
effective use of technology in teaching. Demonstrated success in
collaborating across administrative units on campus to achieve goals and
demonstrated success in development of concepts and translation of ideas
into action. Preferred: Masters degree in library science from an
ALA-accredited program highly desired. Advanced course work or
certification in the pedagogy of instruction and instructional
technology highly desired. Demonstrated success in identifying potential
funding sources within and outside the university for targeted projects
desirable.
Salary/Appointment: $44,000-50,000 for ten-month. Tenure-track
appointment at Librarian II. Review of applications begins on April 3
and continues until the position is filled. Start date negotiable.

REFERENCE & INSTRUCTION LIBRARIAN, HEAD OF INFORMATION SERVICES:
Twelve-month, tenure-track position. Provides reference and instruction
services to students, faculty, and staff directly and through
development of traditional and electronic resources that support
independent inquiry. Provides leadership and direction to library
faculty and staff in the Information Services units of the John F.
Kennedy Library. These units perform the following functions:
reference & instruction; library systems operations; special collections
and university archives development and services; interlibrary loan;
non-print media assistance; learning resources services. Staff
includes: 8 library faculty, 9 classified and administrative staff.

head of Information Services, 25% of this position's workload is
assigned to administrative duties associated with leadership of the
division, to ensure that divisional priorities, resource allocations,
and expenditures serve the established goals of the division and the
library.
Qualifications: Required: Masters degree in library science from an
ALA-accredited program, minimum 7 years progressively responsible
experience in academic library services. Meet qualifications for
appointment as Librarian II or (preferred) as Librarian III.
Demonstrated success in leadership and management of personnel and
operations, excellence in performance in reference and instruction,
knowledge of current trends and concepts of academic library services,
knowledge of the application of technology in libraries and current
trends in library technology and commitment to excellence in service to
students, faculty, and staff.
Salary/Appointment: $51,000-60,000 for twelve-month, tenure-track
appointment at Librarian II or Librarian III. Review of applications
