your colleagues? Become part of the IUG Steering Committee and you can
participate in making decisions for the many activities that IUG
offers to its members.
This year we will elect a Vice Chair/Chair Elect and two
Members-at-Large. Terms begin on Monday, May 22, 2006, the last day
of the annual conference. The Members-at-large serve a two-year term
while the Vice Chair serves one year as Vice Chair, one year as Chair
and one year as Past Chair.
All Steering Committee members speak for the membership, serve on ad
hoc working groups and provide advice to the Chair. The Vice Chair
serves as chair of the Program Committee for the Annual
Conference. Members at Large manage other conference related
activities such as Birds of a Feather meetings, Job Placement,
Enhancements, volunteer recruitment etc. More detailed descriptions
are available in the bylaws at
Should you have any questions about being a Steering Committee
member, current Steering
Committee members are available to share their experiences. The list
of current Steering Committee members is available at
The Steering Committee has four regularly scheduled meetings during
the year. Two meetings are held during the Annual Conference and one
meeting each at ALA Annual and ALA Midwinter. All Steering Committee
members should attend ALA Midwinter while only the executive officers
are expected to attend ALA Annual. All Steering Committee members
are expected to attend the Annual IUG Conference. The arrival date
is generally two days before the Pre-Conference day and we strongly
prefer that you remain through the final session on the final day of
the Main Conference.
Compensation includes complimentary hotel room for the duration of
the IUG Annual Conference, including the extra days of Steering Committee
commitment, free conference registration and a stipend for all SC
members to attend ALA Midwinter. Executive officers receive an
additional stipend to attend ALA Annual.

diversity of libraries that are customers of Innovative. Please be
sure that your biographical information clearly states the type of
library you work in.
If you are not personally interested but know of someone who would
make great contributions to the IUG, you may nominate them and we
will contact them directly about their candidacy. When nominating,
please provide their name, contact information and the office you'd
nominate them for to Carol Wu by Wednesday, March 15, 2006.
We anticipate the election will begin around March 20 and end around
April 7, 2006.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Past Chair, IUG
