Subject: [IUG] Exporting MARC21 holdings to OCLC

For any III sites that have their serials holdings in detailed MARC 21
Format for Holdings Data (MFHD)....

is it possible for III to successfully export holdings in this form ? -
for batch updating in the same form to OCLC local holdings records?

To facilitate ILL, we've been thinking about doing a batch update/load
of serials holdings in OCLC for a while, but our field 866 Lib Has
holdings summary fields are probably not uniform enough for batch
loading. I'm wondering if converting all holdings to detailed 863
format would serve us well, especially for updating OCLC.

On a side note, I'm curious whether many academic libraries have adopted
the detailed standard, and why or why not.

thanks,

John
