Interesting to read that you are using Excel and Access in your process.
Those programs are being used now during our inventory process.
I create a list by location code, break it down into 1000 item groups, staff
will scan into an Excel spreadsheet and then I will import that section into
Access where I have created a table, then I run a dupcheck querry and that
runs a report for staff to find out why the item is in the report. We are
lucky, years ago we decided to place our barcodes on the outside back of the
book. The reason for the 1000 items is that is about one person can do in
an hour. Once the report is in hand add about 1-2 more hours and that
section of the collections has been inventoried.

Well, Bryan, I am only going by what I was told by
Innovative when we first started using the inventory module
several years ago and as some of our schools continue to
use it we have seen no change in the module. So, if you
find out differently, the knowledge has not been passed on
to us as we struggled to understand it. We now, for the
most part use Excel, Access and the old pencil and paper
list in most of our sites. Diane
