Sian,
Thanks, it is nice to know I'm not the only one. If I should wind up writing
some custom programs to streamline the reports, I'll try to remember you.

Subject: RE: [IUG] inventory report
We have just completed our 4th or 5th inventory and all of the reports have
been crazy. We list the errors only, and not items that are checked out,
but we still get giant reports with tons of "MSH" messages and duplicates!
I, too, wish I knew how to streamline it a bit.

While experimenting with inventory technology I discovered that our
inventory report was confusing. I scanned 25 volumes and got back a report
with upwards of 80 lines. A few of these were checked out or misshelved.
Many barcodes had a two lines on the report. On the whole, this is not the
way things looked in the documentation, where the example seemed to make
sense.
Is it just me, or is my experience typical?
thanks
