We will be rolling out the reading history feature in the next couple of
days with the following privacy statement:

The Tri-College Libraries are committed to protecting your privacy. However,
if you opt into My Reading History the information contained in this file
is, as is any part of your library record, subject to any judicial process
(e.g. The Patriot Act). Once items are deleted from My Reading History they
cannot be restored.

We've also placed the statement immediately above the reading history by
adding the text to the end of the optin and optout buttons so that it's
immediately apparent to our users.

Subject: [IUG] Preferred Searches and Reading Histories Features

Dear IUG Members-

I am writing to request information from you all about the "preferred
searches" and "reading histories" features in III. I am primarily
interested in how academic libraries are handling these features but
would appreciate any feedback. Specifically, I would like to know who
is using the aforementioned features and what, if any, disclaimers are
you using regarding user's privacy and issues that revolve around the US
Patriot Act.

Thank you in advance for your time and information. I look forward to
your feedback.

Sincerely,

Michelle
