RE: [IUG] Can't connect to Millennium 2005 via DreamweaverMX 2004
[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]
Connie,
I can't offer any help, but can at least tell you that we have the same
problem, although perhaps for a different cause.
Our web librarian who works on our webpac got a new machine, which moved
to a new subnet. She could connect to Millennium (we are running 2005LE)
using Dreamweaver MX 2004 before her upgrade, but the connection would
often drop out with the result that she couldn't work on the files -
they would freeze. She gave up. We think it worked fine when we were
still on Silver, but can't confirm that the problems happened after the
upgrade to 2005LE. After the upgrade to her machine and the new subnet,
she can't connect at all, using either Dreamweaver or an ftp client. I
have changed all the settings in Limit Network Access file.
I can still connect successfully and work quite happily using the same
version of Dreamweaver, the same login and password, and the same setup
on Millennium. My machine is still on the old subnet. This suggested to
me that there is something in the networking that is causing problems,
but I have been unable to find it, and our comms people are telling me
that nothing is different. I've tried all the same things that you have.
This came up as our new webpac was about to go live, so I shelved the
problem and we found workarounds (she can connect using IE, using
ftp://staging at machinename:1021, but this is really unsatisfactory as
there are so many things she can't do).
I'm stumped.

Subject: [IUG] Can't connect to Millennium 2005 via DreamweaverMX 2004
We have been unable to connect to port 1021 using either Dreamweaver MX
2004 or WinSCP3, which has brought our customization of the catalog to a
screeching halt.
A call is open with III but since they haven't been able to find a
solution
yet I'm hoping someone on the list has an answer.
We were able to connect before upgrading Dreamweaver to MX and
Millennium
to 2005, so we have done it before.
Our IP addresses are in the Limit Network Access file; we even
experimented
with how they're listed.
We are trying to connect to port 1021.
We are using the right IP for the server.
We have changed the password and changed it back again to be sure it's
correct.
We don't have directory info in Dreamweaver or WinSCP.
We tried the space instead of colon for Dreamweaver.
The campus firewall is not blocking the port.
Our Network Services person monitored a couple of connection attempts
and
verified that the server is not responding to our attempts to connect.
We can connect to other campus servers using Dreamweaver and WinSCP.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Please don't assume anything
other than what's stated above; I'm new at this and quite possibly am
overlooking the obvious. Kind of hope so, so that it can get fixed and
we
can move on. :-)
Thanks in advance for your time and assistance.
