Hello Don,
I am interested in the topic too. Could you share how you automate the
rest the initialization of the tape? We are new with III Millennium.
Many thanks in advance!

Subject: [IUG] automatic backup
Is there any III site which has totally automated the backup process?
Total automation means the changing of the tapes besides the automatic
backup on the system. We now use the automatic backup, but we have to
physically take one tape out of and put another tape into the tape
drive. I can automate the rest of the process, including the
initialization of the tape, but I could not figure out how I can
automate the changing of tapes. Maybe a different backup tape drive
unit?
It is also suggested that instead of backing the data up onto a magnetic
tape, the backup can be written to a rewritable DVD? Has anybody tried
that?
Any sharing of experience or suggestions will be appreciated.
