Hi!

Leeds has a substantial collection in Chinese script, with multiscript
MARC21 records. However so far we have not attempted to provide
multiscript authority records.

I wondered if any other Innopac library had made progress in this area
and could offer us some advice. In particular, I am interested in the
MARC21 tag to be used for the heading in Chinese script.

MARC21 clearly envisages that tag 880 would be used for parallel
scripts, just as in bibliographic records. However, the ability to show
to OPAC users the existence of an alternative heading in another script
(for example to suggest a search on Mao, Zedong to the user who has
input the same search in Chinese script, and would therefore only
retrieve records which contained Chinese script) does seem in Innopac to
be predicated on use of tag 700, as far as I can tell.

Is anybody able to offer some advice on this - and perhaps also point me
at an OPAC where such a facility has been implemented? Or alternatively
to suggest reasons for not pursuing the question in this way.

Many thanks.

Michael
