Right, and maybe we are a special case, since our branches don't use statistics or any of the other listed functions for that port.

I think I would agree with you that a wiki wouldn't be a good idea for the primary documentation. I wonder if the IUG would consider hosting a wiki for documentation, kind of like the printing faq but having to do with any old topic. It could be controlled so that only IUG members would be able to view it/edit it. Those that have already upgraded could add their own upgrade notes, etc. Josh

I completely understand the frustration, but IIRC, the port 1031 requirement has been on the firewall document [ http://csdirect.iii.com/faq/firewall.shtml ] for some time. It has been a requirement for at least some of the functionality of the Millennium client since R2002 Phase 3 and the introduction of Millennium Statistics. This came up the last time I was reviewing the firewall issues with our IT department.

The change to just the 1030 & 1031 port is a great advancement of the R2002 Phase 1- requirement for a port for each Millennium client. Most people probably didn't notice the change because they had already opened 1031 when they had opened 1030+. What Innovative really should have done is told people to close 1036+ after the move to R2002 Phase 3 since they were no longer used.

I do agree that direct customer commenting (blog stylee), though, not editing (wiki stylee) of the system documentation would be a great thing. For the full wiki route, I would not want it to be the official documentation, as I still believe in the value of strictly vendor controlled documentation.

HTH,
David
