For whatever it is worth, I would like to say that our Library is part of an eight member multi-type library consortium and, when we joined the group (which uses Innovative's Millennium Silver), we were instructed to place the locally-assigned classification # in the item, not bib, record which I think makes perfect sense especially in the consortial environment. All of our call #'s go into an 092 field (for Dewey class #'s) and non-classification numbers such as accession numbers for AV go into an 098 which seems to suit our needs quite well.
