We are a large public library with over 30 branches. We are training each
branch to check-in their own periodicals using MilSer. As you can imagine,
many branches subscribe to the same periodical and we use a single
bibliographic record. This means that when a popular title such as "Sports
Illustrated" arrives at multiple locations on the same day, branches are
frequently unable to check-in the issue because all of the other branches
are also trying to check it in and the bib record is always busy. We don't
want to clutter up our catalog with multiple bib records for the same title.
Does anyone have any way around this problem other than telling staff to
"keep trying" and you'll get there eventually?
Thanks,
Syma Zerkow
