We've also setup a new books list via RSS, it's been live for about 6 months
[http://trilogy.brynmawr.edu/cgi-bin/newbooks/newbook_choose.pl].

Basically, it's an perl script that runs nightly and puts data into a MySQL
database. Feel free to contact me offline if you have further questions.

Yes, we have setup a new book list that also provides RSS capabilities.

We are still testing ours but it will have a link from our main new books
List:

www.lib.wayne.edu/resources/new_books/

That allows a users to select from 1-3 subject areas

(www.lib.wayne.edu/resources/new_books/index2.php)

It is currently based on exports of data on a weekly basis using create
lists. Data is
exported to a mysql database.

We are an Oracle site, so in the near future we will switching to extracts
using SQL queries.

The Tripod consortium has been doing this for quite a while
(tripod.brynmawr.edu) And they have a nice feature which allows a user to
with a non RSS aware browser to click on an RSS link and get some
non-XML results.
