Hello all. I am curious about the advantages of launching Millennium
applications in a browser and looking for feedback from a site using
this functionality (if such a site exists). We've been experimenting
with launching MilCirc in web browsers and are curious about the
advantages of this method. Is this method more responsive for use in
remote applications, such as a bookmobile running on a wireless
connection?

We have discovered that Millennium apps run much more reliably when
launched from the Firefox browser than with IE. Not surprising since
Innovative favors Firefox over IE. Any feedback would be greatly
appreciated.

I opened a call about this last month when I discovered I was no longer
able to launch Millennium from a browser (we moved to R2005 in August).
The response I received is that the following 2 conditions must be met
in order to do this: 1) The Millennium client needs to be installed on
the PC 2) The java environment JRE 1.4.1_02 must be installed.
(Millennium from a browser now works on one of the machines I use that
has JRE 1.4.1_02.) Rumi Graham -------------- Date: Mon, 14 Nov 2005

I opened a call about a year ago and was told that since the Silver
release "it is generally not advised to use a browser to launch
Millennium". Prior to Silver Millennium used the system's version of
the JRE, but recent releases use a localized version of the JRE to
launch and one's browser may not be using a compatible version of the
JRE. Apparently it is still
*possible* to use a browser to launch Millennium but due to the variety
of browsers and versions of JRE available it is difficult to set up.
(This is how I remember the call being closed; the technical details
may not be
precise.)

Note that the browser can only launch Millennium---you still need to log
in and you get the same application as you would if you used an
icon/shortcut, so there may not be any advantages to doing it this way
(assuming it is indeed still possible).
