[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]
I went round and round about this. When dealing with an absolute due
date, the renewal date and due date are the same day. The renewal date
applies to items that had a different original due date. So our loan
rule reads:
Normal loan period 350
First renewal 350
Additional renewal 350
Which makes everything due on December 16. Hope this helps.

Subject: [IUG] absolute due dates

We've recently switched from NOTIS to Millennium, and I'm trying to
figure out how the absolute due dates work. Our faculty due dates are
the end of each semester (December, May and August.) I have it set up
fine for now, but I'm having trouble with trying to change the due date
without negatively impacting renewal.

Right now, the checkout date is set to December, with the renewals for
May and August. If I move to a new loan policy where the due date is in
May, and the renewal dates are August then December, it gives any books
checked out on the old loan rule the August date when they renew. I'm
trying to figure out a way to give books on the old loan rule the May
date for the renewal.

I've thought about having the next loan policy in line set for just the
May date for checkout and renewal. When it's time to switch to August,
I could create a new policy and point the determiner to the August loan
rule. Unfortunately, if I leave the renewals turned on, and they try
to renew more than once, they get a year from August. But if I don't
allow renewals then, well, I can't renew the faculty's books.

I thought I could just not allow them to renew before a certain date and
have the loan policy switched right before that date, but I wasn't sure
how the renew before date dealt with the A code. Has anyone used the A
code with a renew before date?

I don't want to reset the circ option to select the new loan rule at the
time of renewal for other reasons.

Anyone have any suggestions for me? I hope I either haven't read
something or I just missed something obvious.....

Thanks-
Tucker
