I *think* that the cookies that the WAM Proxy sets in your browser once you authenticate, also arrive at the vendor's server... thus, the vendor server could gather those cookies from their logs and *maybe* gain more information on who the patron is.

Hi all,

We have recently had a problem where a database vendor blocked our
access via their automatic monitoring program because of 'excessive
downloads'. As we direct all our traffic via WAM proxy, the IP address
they were blocking was our Millennium machine IP.

Once we explained the situation they unblocked us, but my problem is
that I have no way of knowing if someone was using their WAM access to
download excessive amounts, and therefore breaching our licence (and I
need to stop them doing it again), or if it was a natural accumulation
of individuals downloading a lot all at once.

The WAM stats allow me to see activity by ptype or by database, but I
can't see activity by individual, or even machine. While normally I
wouldn't care, in this circumstance it would be very useful to know if I
have a problem or not.

Does anyone know how I can find out, or any other ideas that might help?

Regards
