Systems Librarian L--0085

The Systems Librarian, in conjunction with the Library management team,
coordinates planning, installation, training and operational support for
computer hardware, software and networks dedicated to the library's
information technologies. Coordinates the planning, evaluation and
implementation of the library's electronic resources including the
integrated library system (ILS), document delivery, digitization and
other library functions. Assists library staff in making full use of
ILS data and software capabilities, with hardware and software
installation and in the design of new databases. Establishes best
practices for Digital Library and manages large digitization projects;
engages in dialogs with the broader Natural History community regarding
emerging electronic standards. As a member of the library managers
group, participates in decision and policy making in the interest of the
library. MLS or equivalent from an accredited School of Library or
Information Science or related field required. Demonstrated
understanding of Library technology; preferred knowledge of MARC
formats, OCLC, digitization, document delivery, programming languages
(php, perl), and working experience in Linux and/or UNIX. Must have
significant experience in an academic or research Library setting,
including experience in Library systems, databases, digital imaging,
mark-up languages, and web management; ability to work in a
collaborative environment and to work with other library staff; and be
able to perform a variety of tasks with accuracy and efficiency. Salary
