We are doing it here. I learned this trick from Julie Su from San Diego
State University.

Here is the way to do that:

Dear Don,

both my system person and Wanda from UCI found out that we can insert
008 field to expand to fixed fields for MHLD.  Please see below for
details.  Just a note that placing your cursor at the beginning of the
variable fields area in a Checkin record and press [Enter] will create a
blank variable field where you can input "tag y" and MARC 008, then
right click choose Expand field to edit values.  The date field is the
only field that by default match the creation date of that checkin
record, others are system default values

I'm assuming you're talking about the checkin record 008 (using the MFHD
standard)?  

I'm interested in this as well.  We haven't yet implemented Millennium,
but I've been tooling around in it since we are getting ready to make
the jump.

I know you can insert an 008 and that it consists of a bunch of
subfields.  I don't think any of them will display in the OPAC, but I'm
guessing you can search against them when creating lists. 

If anyone out there has any experience in using the checkin record 008,
please let us know.  Thanks!
