We here at Carroll College are also experiencing trouble running RefWorks through the WAM. I had it in there over the summer, but in August we upgraded to the 2005 release and since then and are unable to get Refworks to work correctly. Honestly, I believe it did work over the summer as we did do some class demonstrations. However, we have since taken it out.

Our IT department is working with Refworks to try to resolve this issue as we try to limit the amount of passwords we need to give out for off campus use. I will let you know if do get RefWorks to work through the WAM again. The only difference in the setup was we included patron type listings and had the url set up as www.refworks.com with no * because refworks does not use any redirect. I had tried both urls and this one actually seemed to work better, though I am not sure why.

Since it is the bibliography, also check to make sure your pop-up blocker is excepting pop-ups from refworks.com, we experienced this problem in our lab/classrooms, were internet security is on stealth. (Tools - Internet Options - Privacy - Websites).

You may also want to contact Jay Lessieg at RefWorks. He is the tech support guy we have been working with. His email is: jlesseig at refworks dot com dot Also, check with Jay on the proper URL to download Write and Cite, this is another url that you will need to add to the WAM and maybe effecting the launch of Word.

However, it just may be the case that RefWorks cannot be run through the WAM. We believe we have a bigger issue involving slow processing on the Innovative server (we may need a new server). I will keep you posted on our developments as they may help others.

I had to take RefWorks OUT of our WAM table in order to allow users to work with databases and RefWorks off campus.

If a user is off campus searching Academic Search Premier, for example, they have to log in to the proxy server for Academic Search Premier. When they go to export to RefWorks, the user has to log in to his/her personal RefWorks account. If you have RefWorks in your proxy table, the whole thing just hangs up. I don't think there is any reason to have RefWorks in the proxy table since each user creates his or her own personal account while on campus.

We are testing, and it *seems* to work at first, however functions like "Bibliography" (where you upload a Word file and refworks spits it back with bibliography) doesn't work.

Our forwarding table is set up like this:

Token IP/HostName Srv Ver? Ptype Home DB ID Database Name
50 > refworks *.refworks.com 0 y RefWorks TRIAL (7-abr-05

Are we missing something? Has anyone managed to fully use RefWorks under WAM?
