Subject: RE: Electronic Invoicing with Baker & Taylor
Currently, we are on Release 2005LE and are using the EDIFACT system for
electronic ordering (we migrated from BISAC in mid-June). We purchased
the Full Approval Plan Interface at the same time as the EDIFACT
ordering module in May 2005. It was installed in August. Currently, we
have two vendors - Baker & Taylor and Eastern Book Company. EBC just
set up our electronic invoicing and their invoice files are sent to us
in a .mrc file which is in marc format. And I can load these invoices
without a problem. I have been in contact with other III colleges who
are using electronic invoices and all of their invoice files are in marc
format. Unfortunately, none use Baker & Taylor as one of their vendors.
Due to the fact that I have gotten conflicting information from III and
B&T, I am trying to determine if there are any III sites receiving
electronic invoices from Baker & Taylor in non-EDIFACT format. The
person I spoke to today told me that III does not support EDIFACT
invoices - of course Jamen McGranahan pointed out that this is listed as
a new Release 2005 product (which further complicates everything).
Then, the tech support people at B&T told me that their electronic
invoices are only created in EDIFACT format.
I'm a little concerned now that we just purchased a product (and were
told it would work with B&T) that will not work with both of our
vendors. We did not purchase the EDIFACT electronic ordering module -
as far as I know - and given that we will not be able to upgrade to
Release 2005 until we purchase new hardware, I'm starting to get the
impression we may be stuck.
Thanks for your thoughts and comments!!

You have to be on 2005 to get EDIFACT. We're buying it as well, and are
a
B&T customer. We've not upgraded to 2005 yet. It's still so new that
when
we do, we'll have to contact Product Management for the install.
