staging to live and ecommerce

I have two questions for everyone:

1) What is the best way to take your staging site to a live site? (I'm finally going to Mill. Silver)

2) For those of you using ecommerce-how do you handle patrons who want to use their credit card at the circ. desk? (Do you have a manual marchine, do you swipe the card, etc.)
