Hi Sarah, all,
On the text-based version of our Innopac, we have an option B > Load
MARC BIB records from tape or FTS which I assumed you have on your system
... FTS is Innovative's version of FTP ... even though your option may read
differently, check and see if under your "Load" function you have an option
to F > Read MARC records into Innopac using FTS ... may be a different
letter on your system, or you may have to ask III to turn it on ... worst
case: your system is so old there is nothing there to turn on ...
I think you have gone as far as you can by restarting the OCLC port ...
as I mentioned in an off-list reply, at some point (Release 2002??) we were
no longer able to restart our OCLC port to get the download to work ...
Innovative may have documentation on that ... or, it may be time to ask
for anyone that is still using the printer interface to download from OCLC
to contact you ...

Big thanks to all who sent suggestions about my failed async
connection! So far, no luck yet, but I'm still trying some things. A few
follow-up questions:
I've checked the settings with III and OCLC, the OCLC port has been
restarted, the terminal
used to download from OCLC has been restarted, and Phyllis, the printer is
still connected to the Lantronix box, and I'm not sure how to reset the
printer port. Is that a different port from the OCLC port?
Still working with IT to (I hope) test the actual connective hardware to
find out if a cable or connector is shot (there's some whatzit that
apparently can test the pins in the connectors). Candace suggested solder
points; where are there solder points, and how do I fix them?
I tried to create a file for download in lieu of using an async
connection, but our Innopac system is so old that it will only read MARC
records from disk or tape, and the external storage media capabilities of
my computer and the server computer do not match. Cliff, you said FTP to
a file and load to Innopac via FTS; what is FTS?
Lastly, does anyone know whether a change in the IP address or subnet mask
of our server could cause this problem? That is, is there any point in
this connection where something needs to reach an IP address?
We made some IP changes here, and we've already worked out the change with
III so that our catalog is accessible, so everything that needed to be
changed should have been...but maybe there's some last place where it
needs to be changed that no one thought of. Just grasping at straws here!
Thanks again for all the help!
Sarah
