Hi Jill,  I've been trying the websites of universities there since
Katrina headed to NOLA, and today there's finally a sign of life from
Tulane: http://www.tulane.edu/ -- their statement says everyone from
their campus community is safe.
There's still no sign of life from: 
+ Loyola www.loyno.edu
+ University of New Orleans www.uno.edu/ -- the campus is close to Lake
Pontchartrain.
