JOB TITLE: Library Supervisor-Central
SALARY: $47,766.16 - $71,648.93 annually

JOB DESCRIPTION: Administers the operations and facilities of a
library branch to provide library services to the public through the use
of library resources and program services.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs and coordinates operations and staff in assigned branches;
coordinates planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities and
operations related to specific library services; provides reference
services to customers; directs the maintenance of assigned facilities;
coordinates and maintains communications with library administration and
other library divisions; performs administrative tasks including
budgeting functions; prepares reports; recommends policies and
procedures; supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned employees; serves
as liaison with community, civic, and educational organizations; and
performs additional duties as assigned. Some evening & weekend
supervisory duty expected.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited
program.
Experience: At least 3 years professional library experience to include
at least 1 year supervisory experience.
Knowledge: Knowledge of the principles, organization, and practices of
library service; library classification system; computerized systems and
applications of assigned function.
Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with employees, citizens, and library users; communicate
effectively both verbally and in writing; train and supervise other
employees.
Skills: Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands: Sedentary to light physical work requiring ability to
lift a maximum of 10 pounds; may occasionally lift maximum of 20 pounds;
occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing; speech
communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and
citizens; vision to read and interpret reports and other written
documents; hand/eye coordination for operation of a computer system.
Work Environment: Works in a clean, comfortable environment.
Equipment Used: Frequently uses standard office equipment including a
computer system.
