Bruce -- I cannot speak to EDIFACT ordering, but I can address Import Invoices. This had been something that had not quite worked as we expected or desired during 2005 LE and Silver. It think it was in part because of our workflow, but we could not get a report of duplicates after loading a file from Promptcat (essentially when we deleted the file after loading it and then went to view the report, it was also gone). We also had some random freezing of the clients as well.

After moving to Release 2005 during beta, we worked with the acq group of the helpdesk to get this working right and it is now working brilliantly. It took a great deal of patience on the part of our acq department and the helpdesk to get this all sorted out, but we are very happy with the import invoices in Millennium right now. (Knock wood). It is doing everything that it should be doing and doing it very well. I have a record loading guide for Promptcat (and importing invoices) that I am going to put on the Clearinghouse once I get through all the other stuff I am way behind on!

I think that we are all naturally cautious when it comes to software that is not backward compatible. My big thing was to let the departments know that they should report any irregularities. We did not have routine problems with locked invoices and busy records that was reported to the list recently. We had a few bumps early on, but those have all been corrected in the general release of 2005.

Hope this helps.

Best -- Corey

Subject: Rel 2005, fixes, & character-based functionality

Dear Colleagues,

We are still on Rel 2005LE (patch 2), and we have some problems with
Millennium Acquisitions functionality which is replacing
character-based functionality but not working properly, and which is said
to be fixed in Release 2005.

Examples -

Edifact ordering - in Millennium, this works with some vendors but not
others ; in character-based it works fine.
Import Invoices - freezing, and some flakiness

Now I know these are due for fixes in Rel 2005 but I am uneasy with a
situation where the fixes come in at the same time as our backup processes
(in character-based) are removed. It leaves no room for unforeseen situations.

So can anyone who has gone to Rel 2005 and uses these functions let me know
if the fixes do actually work?

Many thanks,

Bruce.
