- Subject: Re: Millennium client setup
Our workaround had been to create a libpc account for the user to log on
to Win XP machine. Each machine has an icon for a student worker login
for the functions they need to access Circsw, catsw, acqsw, etc.
The expectation is that students should not need access to their
personal setup on the PC since they are doing library related work.
This has worked well for us since we migrated to III several years ago.

The remedy I found was that I had to set up the Windows XP security to give users full rights to the Innovative Millennium desktop icon in the Users Desktop folder and full rights to the C:\Millennium folder as follows:
Innovative Millennium Desktop Icon Security Setup
- Right click on the Innovative Millennium icon on the desktop
- Sequentially click on Properties, Security, Advanced, Add, Advanced, Find Now
- Scroll down list and select Users
- Sequentially click on OK, OK, the box next to Full Control under the Allow column, OK
- Click on Users in the list
- Sequentially click on Apply, OK, OK
- Right click on Start and select Explore, then drag the Innovative Millennium icon to the All Users Desktop folder
C:\Millennium folder Security Setup
- Sequentially click on Properties, Security, Advanced, Add, Advanced, Find Now
- Scroll down list and select Users
- Sequentially click on OK, OK, the box next to Full Control under the Allow column, OK
- Click on Users in the list
- Sequentially click on Apply, OK, OK

I'm trying to setup the Millennium clients on Windows XP computers.
Thus far, the only way I've been able to get users to actually run the
client is by making them administrators on the machines (we have 50
student workers and I really don't want to do that for all of them on 12
workstations). According to the FAQ on CSDirect I need to give them
read/write permissions, which I have also tried without success. The
properties say the student group has read/write permissions but when
they double click the icon, it won't open. I have gotten this to work
on the few computers we have that run 2000.
Has anyone had success setting this up using a network group? Is there
something obvious that I'm missing or will I need to set this up for
each student individually?
Thanks.
