Hi. I need your expert counsel here and find it daunting to throw this to
the list. I'd hoped that III would help on this but was told that they'd
only help if things broke upon implementation. In May I did a thorough
redesign of our III Webpac and finally got it up to HTML4 speed with calls
to style sheets. See:
http://library.cwu.edu:2082/search/
When I started this in May I browsed alot of Webpacs and settled on the
Uni. of Washington's design--hey, we work with them in a consortial
setting; they're right down the road 120 mi., etc. After a few days of
attempting to reverse engineer their work I spoke with Mark Kibbey, Head,
Integrated Library Systems, who was kind and gracious enough to share
files and etc. with me.
My question, that which makes me fret and lose sleep, concerns my new
wwwoptions file. I have tried to make sure that my current wwwoptions
file on live server port has all elements in my new wwwoptions file at
http://library.cwu.edu:2082/screens/wwwoptions
I essentialy reverse engineered the UW wwwoptions file, tried to make sure
I had my current elements from my live server port included, and now have
fingers and paws crossed. File isn't visually well organized by
"sub-categories" if you will - like global settings in a group, Innreach
settings in a group, etc. But I *think* things are working.
To those who are sooo much better at this than I and who are willing to
look under the hood - am I doing or not doing something that is going to
break or otherwise get me into trouble, either w/ my wwwoptions or
anything else I might've missed?
I'm cold on this as I wasn't able to bring it up in early summer as I'd
hoped and am now scrambling to bring up other redesigned and/or new Web
services by start of Fall Quarter...so I'm jumping back to III stuff after
months away...and know just enuf to be dangerous. Thanks so much for any
and all suggestions, observations, comments!!
