Wireless authentication

Has anyone been successful using Innovative's patron API to authenticate
patrons in a wireless setting?

We purchased Polaris' WAM, which we have now discovered only uses SIP2.
We were under the impression that we could use WAM to communicate via
the patron API, but we have been unable to make this work. Furthermore,
to add a new client that can access Innovative using SIP2, the cost is
about 2,500 while the patron API is free.

I am therefore wondering if there is another solution available that
could communicate through the patron API. If not, is there another way
to query Innovative's database? Maybe setting up a local database via a
nightly dump, etc? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

For wireless access, we are using D-Link's DSA-3100 Airspot Gateway.

Thanks.
