Hello--
I know that many of us have opened calls to Innovative about AOL's
inability (at least in our case) to open our "New Titles" lists, and the
Validation Expired problem when IE's Content Advisor is turned on.
I spoke directly with AOL, and even was able to open a call with them.
Their service personnel admitted that the problem lay with their own
substandard browser. In the case of IE, our users have turned on the
Content Advisor in a naive effort to use it as an Internet content
filtering package for home use.
I don't know whether it's Innovative's responsibility to re-design its
software to work with every browser, particularly one whose own vendor
admitted to me that it was defective.
With regard to IE's Content Advisor, it only works when Web site
developers have voluntarily input RSACi ratings in the metadata of their
pages. The percentage of such pages is extremely low, so the Content
Advisor is essentially worthless. So I advise our customers who want to
filter their home computers to purchase real filtering software and to
forego the IE Content Advisor--and the customers have appreciated that
advice.
So in the case of IE's content advisor and the related "Validation
Expired" error message, once again I am not sure whether it's
Innovative's problem to solve. Perhaps the problem rests with the user,
his/her choice of software packages and how s/he has chosen to configure
them.

Mary -- I was never able to find anyone who had any settings for a work
around. add these people to the number of people who use the AOL
browser, and we've had quite a few annoyed patrons since we migrated. --

We have recently discovered a problem with Internet Explorer's Content
Advisor and patron authentication through the OPAC. Past list messages
indicated that they only solution was to disable Content Advisor. Does
anyone have an option other than disabling Content Advisor? Has anyone
who reported this to III received an answer? I just opened a new call.
