Reporting to the Head of Library Information Services, the Instructional Services Librarian provides leadership and coordination for the library's instruction program. Manages the overall planning and functioning of services in collaboration with participating team members. Pursues opportunities to extend library instruction and reference/research support to College programs and constituents in addition to academic departments. Coordinates expectations and training for staff participating in instruction and research service activities. Participates in providing reference service to library patrons and coordinates research consultation program. Contributes to library collection development by serving as liaison for assigned subject areas and by participating in evaluation and selection of titles for the reference and electronic resources collections. Requires an ALA-accredited master's of library science degree and familiarity with current information literacy theories and practices. Requires a strong commitment to service excellence and to information access in traditional and alternative formats. Requires familiarity with collection development and with research and reference sources. Proficiency in the use of related information technologies is necessary. Must be able to work well and communicate effectively with library colleagues and with faculty, students, and other library patrons. Requires excellent classroom presentation abilities and skills in preparing instructional materials. Must be able to work effectively with administrative details necessary to program management and evaluation. (Posted 7/15/05)
