Hi Eeva,

We only activated this feature last week. So far only a few people
(staff) are using it. I had the help desk turn on email notification and
it worked as described.

The following is mostly taken from the manual:

You need to have EMAILOP configured in wwwoptions. See Page # 102173 in
the manual. You also need to include the PREF_SEARCHES wwwoption and add
the "emailopt" "|y" for the system to offer patrons the "Mark for Email"
box. See Page # 102171.

In the Alert Options, the login specified in the #FROM field has to have
email enabled (MAIL set to Y in the Login Manager).

The "comment" symbols in the file are actually part of the fields
according to the manual. They need to be included. It's too bad III
didn't use a different symbol than a universally-recognized comment
indicator.

Here's our alert options file. It needs tweaking of the CATDATE but it's
what we currently use:

#SUBJECT=Library notification of new arrival
#FROM=exporter
#CATDATE=2-9
#EMAILHEAD=The following new titles matching your preferred searches are
now available.
#EMAILBODY=
%a
%T

Let me know if you would like more detail. Good luck!

Thanks,
Mark

Subject: My Millennium Preferred Searches Email

Good morning! HELP! We've had problems for "months" or more now
getting the Preferred Searches email/notification to work! I've played
around with Millennium Alert Options and consulted with III re: setting
up the "From" field (we've got it in there as 'exporter'). We're
"stumped"! Do any of you have any suggestions as to how to set this
up??? I noticed before that the lines in the options file are commented
out (preceded with "#"). I thought that maybe this is what caused the
problem, but when I took this out, it still didn't work... I was
wondering if anyone out there who does have this working would be
willing to email me (off list) a copy of your email alert options file
so that I can compare it with ours. Thanks so much! Any advice you can
offer is MOST WELCOME! Kind regards, Eeva
