cursor problem in Millennium Serials?

Dear Innopackers,
      Yesterday one of our new machines developed an odd cursor problem in
Millennium serials.  In editing a variable length field (in an item
record), the cursor advanced through the line as if we were using a
'regular' font, but the font we had chosen, and which was being displayed,
was the bold font.  The result was that the further you got into the line,
the further the cursor appeared to be to be left of where the text
'insertion point' would be.  At the right end of the line, the cursor was
one and a half to two letters to the left of where it should have been.
Has anyone else observed this behavior?  Any ideas on how to fix it?  The
machine is a new Dell GX280 running Windows XP SP2.
