Here at OHIONET, we manage the Innovative system for a consortium of 21
academic libraries. Our network uses a Sonicwall and we do not have
this problem on our end (when we connect to the III server through our
firewall).

However, one of our member libraries' institutions just implemented a
Sonicwall which is managed by a third party (or fourth, depending on how
you count). This library IS experiencing a related problem on their end
of the connection to the server.

Our understanding of the problem is that one of the Sonicwall's Security
Services (IIUC, the intrusion prevention functionality) is the culprit
(we do NOT use that feature of the Sonicwall).

Despite Sonicwall's response, I'm pretty sure you can override most of
the Security Services by either:

1. overriding the various policies OR
2. configuring an exclusion list in the global settings

... and how you do that depends on whether you're running the standard
or enhanced OS.

Perhaps someone a little more familiar with those specific services on
the Sonicwall can offer some insight?

Best,

Matt

Beginning at the word, "Packet," this is word for word and CHARACTER FOR

This brings two questions to mind:

1) Is anyone having any sort of problem with Millennium clients running
through firewalls from any vendor?

2) Is anyone running Millennium clients from behind sonicwall firewalls
NOT
experiencing problems?

Private answers are fine if you've got them.

Hi Angela,

I just got back from vacation and noticed your email on Innopacusers.

We've had the same problem #1 - usually not even getting the dollar
amounts. I think it is some kind of formatting problem that showed up
with Silver - I have an open call with III.

We also have the same problem with continuously printed statements
unless they are printed to the designated III Network printer.

I hope this helps -

- Cindy

I have taken the Serial checkin card Number and convert it to a barcode to
save time at checkin.
I will be creating a rolodex type file sorted by title, with the checkin
card number (barcode) and bib number on each card.
At checkin, when new magazines come in, staff has only to locate the card,
scan the barcode and click "Check in". No need to
type in bib number, issn or title. Scanning takes you right to the Checkin
Card.
I did it off a "Create List" exported into Excel and then into Access. You
can do it by using mail merge off Excel as well.

I took the concept from the NOBLE Consortium.
Just thought I would share.

Greetings,

I'm looking at applying an Oracle patch to update our Oracle from
9.2.0.1 to 9.2.0.6 on our server, currently running Solaris 8. Has
anybody else patched their Oracle software to this version? If yes, how
long did it take and did you have any problems with Oracle or the III
software after the patch was applied.

Also, has anybody had the pleasure of applying more than one Oracle
patch in the same sitting? Oracle just announced yesterday a new
critical update for 9.2.0.6 and it would be most convenient for us if I
could apply both patches at once, even if I have to get III to recompile
twice, once after each patch has been applied. Just wondering if anyone
has any experiences like this they can share with me.

This message is being sent to two different lists, so please be careful
when you reply unless you want to reply to both Innopac and the
III/Oracle lists. It might be best to reply off list.

Thanks! Have a great day!

We're trying to set up learning express library in Scottsdale and having

solution they used for Canton Public, but unfortunately there's some
shorthand in there that is making it difficult for me to interpret the

Hi,

If I change labels but don't change the number it relates to, do I need
to do something in order for those changes to take effect?

For example,

I've changed our non-circulating i-type which is no 7 to reference
only.
I've also changed the opac message as this is what we use to display
our loan length in the catalogue.

Do I need to contact III to do something else?

If you are displaying the i-type information on your OPAC, changing the
label should display the new text.

The OPAC message is one of the fixed fields. If you want to change the
text that displays on the OPAC, change the "meaning" in Admin ->
Parameters -> General -> Fixed-length codes -> OPACMSG.

Hope this answers your questions.

Mandy -- If you are changing the text of the labels to something that is similar, but not the codes, there is really nothing that you have to do.

However, to get the OPAC Messages to display properly in the WebOPAC, you should restart the Web Server on your Millennium system.

Hi Mieko,

That's what I thought - but it doesn't appear to.

I've changed the opac message text from non-circulating to reference
only but it's still displaying as non-circulating?

Thanks for your quick response.

If in doubt it's always a good idea to restart your web server.

Mandy -- If you are changing the text of the labels to something that
is similar, but not the codes, there is really nothing that you have to
do.

However, to get the OPAC Messages to display properly in the WebOPAC,
you should restart the Web Server on your Millennium system.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

If I change labels but don't change the number it relates to, do I
need
to do something in order for those changes to take effect?

For example,

I've changed our non-circulating i-type which is no 7 to reference
only.
I've also changed the opac message as this is what we use to display
our loan length in the catalogue.

Do I need to contact III to do something else?

At Toledo, they just give the Systems Librarian a kick and it typically
fixes it as well.
