LIBRARY SYSTEMS SPECIALIST

Southwest Missouri State University is accepting applications for a
Library Systems Specialist for the SMSU Libraries. Responsibilities
include managing the University library's online catalog, bibliographic
utility software, and related systems; providing development, support,
training, documentation, and problem resolution for these systems; and
serving as the library's representative and point of contact to the
Missouri Bibliographic Information User System (MOBIUS) consortium and
Southwest Academic Network (SWAN) cluster.

The SMSU Libraries consist of six library facilities on three campuses
with holdings of over 800,000 titles and 1 million item records. Catalog
support is also provided to the Forest Institute of Professional
Psychology. SMSU is a member of MOBIUS, a consortium of 57 academic
institutions in Missouri. MOBIUS provides a common library catalog,
using the III Millennium system, and facilitates the borrowing and
delivery of materials among members.

Bachelor's degree is required; an emphasis in Library Science or a
computer-related field is preferred. Master's degree in Library Science
is preferred. Additional requirements include three years experience
working in a library or consortium managing an integrated online library
catalog system; knowledge and understanding of the theory and practices
of library services; excellent oral and written communication skills;
strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently or in groups
and handle multiple projects and priorities; an understanding of Machine
Readable Cataloging (MARC) and bibliographic record structure; good
working knowledge of word processing, database, and/or spreadsheet
applications; and occasional evening and weekend work. Experience
managing an integrated online library catalog system in a multi-library
or consortium environment; academic library experience; and library
technical services experience are preferred. Salary: $44,000/annually.
