Required inputs when Adding Patrons

Hello,

Is there a way to make a field a "required" field when adding a new 
patron?  Currently, I have a template set up that displays prompts for 
fields such as name, address, barcode, etc. but the system allows you to 
type nothing and hit return.  As a consequence you can have patron records 
that have a name and nothing else.  Is there a feature to make someone type 
something into a field before hitting return???
