Patron images in Circulation

Dear all,

We have switched on our Patron images in circulation product, and would
like to link to shared images on one of our networked drives. The
address is : 

\\sam.edgehill.ac.uk\studentimages\*******.jpg 

III have switched us on, I've ticked the box in login manager, and put
the link into the patron record, but nothing is showing up. Does it have
to a http: address ?
