RE: Removal of OCLC holdings symbol

We do this periodically in batch rather than record by record as sometimes
the Bibs are needed by another member library in the Consortium.
I periodically run a list (Millcat Create Lists) of Bibs with no attached
records  usually 3 to 4 times per year.   I export the OCLC  Bib utility
number only (MARC field 001 for us) to an Excel file - no number symbol
needed. I email the Excel file of OCLC record numbers to OCLC (specific
email address supplied when I set this up initially) and then they delete
our holding symbol from Worldcat for these records.  OCLC notifies us via
email when our holding symbol has been removed from the records on Worldcat
-- currently up to 5 day turnaround.  I initiated this by filling out a
"Batch Search Key Processing Order Form" as a one time set up.    After
extracting the OCLC number I delete the Bibs from our system using the text
based system (Delete records of any type).
If you need more information please let me know.  I believe I still have the
person's name at OCLC who gave me information about this method.

Would anyone be willing to share your procedure for removing the
holdings symbol from OCLC when materials are lost or withdrawn?  Does
anyone have a way of combining the process of removing the records
through Millennium Cataloging and removing the holdings symbol from
OCLC?
