Dear IUG list,

A few questions came up at a meeting I had this afternoon regarding
checking out laptops via III circulation. We are in the mist of
profiling and need to make some decisions by next week.

If you are using III to circulate laptop computers please share with me
the following ASAP.

What Itype have you assigned?

What loan rule(s) have you set up?

What location code have you assigned?

What words display in the location field on the opac?

What is your fee/ fine rate schedule? i.e. > $.15 per minute, $10 hr.
, etc.

1) At what point does your system begin calculating late charges?
i.e. after 15 minutes, after an hour?, at the end of the day?

2) At what point is a laptop considered lost?

3) What is the maximum laptop fine/fee?

4) What is the dollar amount you have on the system for "lost?"

What does your loan delimiter table for laptops look like?

Do you have a separate fine/fee chart for laptop accessories?

Do you barcode accessories separately? i.e. mice, external floppy
drives, etc.

If your patron reaches the maximum fee/fine for laptops are they
prohibited from borrowing other items? Using self-check, printing, etc.?

What type of security measures do you have in place? i.e. sensors,
engraving the units, spray painting college name on lid, etc.

What words of wisdom or caveats do you have?

If you are not using III to circulate laptops, please share with me what
you are using; and if it's commercial or shareware how to acquire it.

Thank you,

Lorrita
