I would echo the suggestion of using terminal servers. These will handle
the network aspects of the connections, and allow you to wire serial
terminals or PCs with terminal emulators to them. (We do still offer a DOS
version of Anzio, for serial connections).

Trying to run a network connection from a DOS PC is a big can of worms.
Not only was there no support by the OS, there were no solid standards. We
used to try to work in that world, and it was a constant battle.

My suggestion would be to get early Windows machines (95 or later) which
are going to waste all over the place, and run a telnet/SSH client (such
as Anzio Lite).
