RE: rapid updating ytdcirc and lytdcirc

When I ran this last year with about 450,000 item records it took a good 24
hours.  That was on an older server, and I'm hoping that it will go faster
this year on our new one.

Last year I chose the option to replace the LYRCIRC field with the current
YTDFIELD data, and I'll be choosing the same option this year.  We were then
on 2002 Phase 3 (now on Silver) and were then and still are an HP/Oracle
installation.  I did update all the records at once, rather than using
review files.  But I did it over Memorial Day while we were closed (don't
tell).

I'll be going for broke Thursday night.  I'm aiming for a five-minute
process like the folks in Texas get, but I would also happily settle for the
two-hour Illinois pace.  Wish me luck.

As the fiscal year comes to an end, I have been looking at updating the
year-to-date and last-year-to-date circ counters. (this will be our first
year at running this)  I would like to run this against the entire item
file, not just systematically work through the file via review files as
suggested in the manual.  We currently have 793010 item records, of which
195464 are deleted.  Does anyone have any comments on running it against the
item file vs review files?  Can anyone give me any time estimates for this
many items? Thanks in advance for any information.
