Subject: printing SLB labels to Okidata 320 printer with Connexion
clientrunning under Windows XP
Our cataloger switched from Passport to OCLC Connexion client. Her
computer is running Windows XP. Ever since she made the switch from
Passport to Connexion, she has not been able to print labels correctly.
We are using an Okidata 320 Turbo impact (dot-matrix) printer as our
label printer.
She was able to print labels just fine from Passport running under
Windows XP on the very same computer to the very same printer. Thus, I
think the chief culprit in this problem is the Connexion Client, though
I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. All I know is that when we
try to print labels, they are out of alignment and the appearance of the
font (Ariel Unicode MS, OCLC's recommended font) looks horrible, as if
the printer is not reading correctly the code that it's getting from
Connexion.
I've been in contact repeatedly with OCLC support, but none of their
suggestions have worked so far (their suggestions have involved trying a
number of other printer drivers besides the one of the Okidata 320
Turbo).
If you are a library who is successfully printing labels to an Okidata
320 Turbo using Connexion Client and running Windows XP, would you
please contact me off-list? I'd like to know the secret to your
success.
Thanks,
Scott Lloyd
