In a word, yes. In prior versions of Millennium, and the versions of Java
they were based on, printing was done at a "port" or "raw" level, not
using the printer driver. In Silver, they use a Java that offers the
possibility of using the driver. When Silver is set for "graphics mode",
it uses the driver, and presents the printer setup options. This allows
you to specify bins, paper sizes, etc. "Text mode" still doesn't use the
driver.
