Problem with Inventory Control Module

Hello Fellow IUGers, 

I've been noticing several questions being posted to the group
regarding the Inventory Control Module, but unfortunately none of those
questions seems to have been answered publicly.   Is it common for some
requests to be answered through private correspondence?  If so, share
the wealth!  

We here at TAMU-CC are too having problems with the Inventory Module. 
We're trying to base our setup much like the one Dennis Van Arsdale has
posted to the Clearinghouse, but we've run into a snag.  The ASCII text
file of barcodes scanned into Notepad are not being read by the
Inventory Control Module.  After uploading the barcodes file, when we
try use the option of "Compare file of barcodes to shelf list" it gives
us the error "No inventory files."  One interesting thing we have
noticed is the files are being renamed, or encapsulated so to speak, by
adding the letters "RDY" among other things.  What is an RDY file?  Has
anyone run into this before?  My only guess is it's some sort of review
file format.  We are transferring our files by IFTS from a laptop to our
Millennium server.   The files show up fine, just in a different format,
and one that is apparently not the format needed for comparing barcodes
to a shelf list.  We have double-checked the actual file of barcodes to
make sure it falls in line with the instructions that Mr. Van Arsdale
provided.  That is, we edited the file to include "n" at the beginning
of each line, and there is only one blank space at the end of the file. 
 We spoke with III on this, and about the only useful information they
could give us was that the file had to be of the .DAT extension.   This
poses a problem, since the file name is getting renamed to the
aforementioned RDY format when uploaded.   What to do?!?  

Any information/shared experiences are certainly welcome regarding this
