Alan-
We are using EZBorrow here at Mercyhurst and have had no problems so far. The set-up was
fairly straight-forward - as I recall, I did not have to make any changes to our system.
I did set up a palci location code and ptype, and created several dummy patron records
that the EZBorrow system uses when our items are checked out.
The only "problem" that comes to mind right now is that we have our Innopac configured to
allow only 5 holds per student (10 per faculty member). Because EZBorrow doesn't "look"
at this when a request is placed, and because an EZBorrow item is treated as a hold when
it is received, I do have to go in and manually override this block from time to time.
PALCI staff did ask for override capabilities, but we decided not to give them this,
since it was unclear whether or not the system could differentiate between those patrons
who simply had >5 holds and those who were blocked due to fines or other circumstances.
Also, we do not use III's ILL module - perhaps there is a work-around for this problem
there? (if EZBorrow could be treated as an extension of ILL?)
Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions, I'll do my best to help!
