When we ran into this problems with bills, we were able to reduce the number of notices we were printing somewhat by setting the sorting of these notices to by patron and by item location. This setting seems to get multiple items from the same location on a single bill.

Before we made this change, I believe we would get multiple bills for a patron from the same location if there was an intervening bill from a different location - e.g., a bill from "Location A", a bill from "Location B", then another bill from "Location A". After we started sorting the notices, the same scenario would generate a bill for two items from "Location A" and then a bill from "Location B".

Of course, the last time I really looked at this was a couple of years ago while we were migrating to the system and before we upgraded to 2002 Phase 3. So, this may be a "Millennium Myth" I have talked myself and my staff into believing...

Subject: Notices - HEEEEEELLLLLLP!

Hey All,

We have been having an inordinate number of notices recently
and I have been going back and forth with the helpdesk on ways to
resolve the issue and they recommended that I ask you. We are a public
library with 18 branches and we average around 400 printed notices
daily. What we would like to do is reduce that number. However because
Items from different location print on separate notices 1 Patron may get
3 notices in one day. We feel these 3 notices should all be on one
notice. Have any of you found a way to accomplish this? We are using
Millennium and we print all of our notices centrally, so if we had to
make everything come from one address that would be fine. Any help you
can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Aaron
