Jamen,
I linked scanned photographs to our OPAC by using the 856
and it is working well.
Our web site is www.dcccd.edu
Then follow through to libraries and catalog and you should be able
to pull up about 25 pictures for each of our 7 campuses.
The only problem is the inconsistency of the size of the image.
It's a little cumbersome, but we didn't have to buy Mil Media...

Hi everyone,
I am hoping I can grab some of the vast knowledge of this group and give us
an idea. We're preparing to create a strategic plan for digitizing our
archival collection. We want to make the images accessible through our
OPAC, and I'm just trying to think of a way to do it. Do we need to have
Mil Media installed for this? We don't currently, but I have asked for a
quote. I think we're going to try to get another server to store all of
these digital artifacts on so as to not clog up the Innovative server. This
is the only way I can think of that we can do this, but if any of you have
done something similar, I'd love to hear from you.
Here's the plan (I think):
Create a location for Archives
Create brief MARC records for each item, with location of Archives
Scan each item as the MARC record is created
Using 856 field, connect the scanned article to the MARC record (???)
